Salesforce replacement
Opero replaces Salesforce with a custom system designed around your business: the data model, the processes, and the experience, with no per-user licenses. We design it, migrate you, and run it after launch.
Why companies replace Salesforce
- The license bill. Salesforce Enterprise lists at $175 per user per month, before contact center seats, portal licenses, and add-ons, and the bill grows with every user and customer. A custom system has no per-user licenses. For companies with a large Salesforce bill, the savings alone can justify the move. Run your numbers.
- The data model does not fit. Salesforce is built around Accounts, Contacts, and Opportunities. When your business has its own core entities, they get forced into those shapes, and everyone has to learn the workaround.
- Most of it is already custom. Flows, Apex, and custom components do the real work, and you still pay for the platform underneath.
- The interface is generic. It is built for every industry, so it fits none of them exactly.
- A better system is now within reach. With AI coding tools, a system designed exactly for your business costs less and takes less time than it used to.
What we do
- Design. Starting from your existing Salesforce data model, metadata, and code, we design the new system around how the business works: the data model, the processes, and the experience for staff and customers.
- Build. The architect who designed it builds it with AI coding tools, on your cloud or ours, including integrations with the systems Salesforce connected to.
- Test. Automated browser testing against every test case, then manual confirmation.
- Migrate. A first migration so users train on real data, then a final migration at cutover with Salesforce set to read only.
- Go live and operate. Users switch over, Salesforce stays read only for one to three months, and Opero runs the new system from there.
From experience
Opero's founder has worked on both sides of this move. He built custom CRM and business systems before Salesforce matured, then implemented Salesforce for companies from 2008 through around 900 projects, migrating many of them from other systems onto Salesforce. He also built six Salesforce products used by thousands of customers. Now the move runs the other way: Opero recently replaced Salesforce for an internet service provider serving apartment buildings. Read what that replacement involved.
What it costs
Most replacements run three to nine months of Build depending on scope, roughly $150,000 to $430,000, then $12,000 a month to operate, with no per-user licenses. Use the calculator to compare with your Salesforce bill, or start with a free review for an estimate based on your setup.
When to keep Salesforce
If your use is close to standard, your team is happy, and licenses are not a large cost, keep it. If only part of the business struggles with it, we can build the custom system for that part and integrate it with Salesforce.
Common questions
How long does a Salesforce replacement take?
Typically three to four months to go live for sales, service, portals, and integrations: one to two months of design, about a month of build, then testing, data migration, and training. Larger scopes take longer.
Do we have to replace all of Salesforce at once?
No. Some companies replace the processes where Salesforce fits worst and integrate the new system with Salesforce for the teams that stay.
What happens to our Salesforce data and customizations?
Data is migrated into the new data model, twice: once for training and once at cutover. Flows, Apex, and custom components are rebuilt in the new system, usually more simply. Salesforce stays read only for a few months after go-live.
Can you work from our existing Salesforce setup?
Yes. Your existing data model, metadata, and code repository are the starting point. They make design faster and nothing is lost.
